ourse Descriptions for each of our Clinics. All are year-long courses.

Civil Litigation and Mediation Clinic (L411 Fall, L412 Spring, 6 cr.) is a year-long clinic - students must enroll in and complete both semesters to get credit. Students represent clients in civil lawsuits primarily in the areas of consumer protection, home repair, predatory lending, and contract disputes. Students are also trained in mediation and will have the opportunity to act as mediators. Prerequisites or Co-requisites: Evidence (L207 or L212) and Basic Mediation Training (L4320).
Community Development Clinic (L430 Fall, L431 Spring, 6 cr.) is a year-long clinic - students must enroll in and complete both semesters to get credit. Students represent business and non-profit entities in formation of their businesses and to obtain tax exemption for non-profit corporations. They act as general counsel helping their clients plan for future projects and activities. Students may also help to structure transactions for entities and individuals in real estate purchases, leasing arrangements, rehabilitation and development and provide assistance in simple intellectual property matters. Prerequisites or Co-requisites: Business Associations (L216) or Nonprofit Organizations (L234).

Criminal Justice Clinic (L413 Fall, L414 Spring, 6 cr.) is a year-long clinic - students must enroll in and complete both semesters to get credit. Students represent clients in misdemeanor criminal matters including domestic violence, petty theft, disorderly conduct, assault, resisting arrest, traffic matters (including DUI and Driving under Suspended License) and alcohol related offenses. Students are also placed in practitioner settings to experience public interest work in courts, and other agencies. Prerequisites or Co-requisites: Evidence (L207 or L212) and Criminal Procedure (L327).

Health Law Clinic (L418 Fall, L419 Spring, 6 cr.) is a year-long clinic - students must enroll in and complete both semesters to get credit. Students represent clients in social security disability claims, guardianships concerning incompetence, health insurance claims and disputes, health care directives, access to health care, special education for disabled children, and other health and disability law-related issues, in administrative and court proceedings. Prerequisites or Co-requisites: Evidence (L207 or L212).

Prerequisites for all clinical courses:

• Students must have completed 58 credits towards graduation for all clinical courses (rising 3L's only)
• The CaseArc sequence of courses (CORE 1, 2, 3 and FPS)

Practice in Court:
The most intensive court experiences are in the Criminal Justice Clinic. However, students also appear in court and/or administrative agencies in the Civil Litigation and Mediation Clinic, and the Health Law Clinic.

Because the Community Development Clinic is primarily transaction oriented, students enrolled in this clinic generally will not appear in court.
